Talk:Genesis 1:11

As I don't want to contribute nor debate in this wiki site I will just add a comment here.

The verses talk about lights on firmament not of celestial bodies. I don't want to propose any theory but it's perfectly imaginable that plants (primitive forms) could appear on a fully-clouded planet (like Venus but with different composition, density, temperature etc.), therefore first plants then lights on the sky ;)

Con-Con

In the "Con" section it is stated that

The Hebrew phrase ha'shamayim we ha'erets, "the heavens and the earth" means more than the sum of its parts, i.e. the whole universe. Thus, the text is claiming in verse 1:1 that God created the sun, the moon and the stars during the first yom.

But the question here is, what is implied by Genesis 1:1? Is ha'shamayim the place or the inhabitatnts of that place? Note that clouds were not made in the first "yom", and clouds are the lower limit of ha'shamayim, so the point may not be correct :-)
