The traditional assumption is that the 2nd temple was built during the 2nd to 6th year of the reign of Darius I, but this is actually not compatible with Ezra's line of events. The ceasing of the building of the temple must have occured during the reign of Artaxerxes I, and it must therefore have been restarted during the reign of Darius II (424-404 bce), c.f. Ezra 4:7. --FreezBee 04:50, 28 Jan 2006 (CST)
