And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of the god Rephan, The figures which ye made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon. (ASV)
Acts 7:42–43 is a quotation of Amos 5:25–27. However, the Hebrew version of Amos differs from the Greek Septuagint, and Acts quotes the Septuagint. This raises the question of which version of the Old Testament is inerrant according to fundamentalist Christians. Protestants believe the Hebrew is inerrant, but the authors of the New Testament usually cite the Greek version as authoritative, even when it is completely different.
Furthermore, even the Greek quotation here is incorrect. The author of Acts has changed "Damascus" to "Babylon", which is not what is "written in the book of the prophets" as Acts 7:42 claims.
