Previous Verse < 1 Kings 18 > Next Verse

And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid it on the wood. And he said, Fill four jars with water, and pour it on the burnt-offering, and on the wood. (ASV)

Pro

In verses 33-35, Elijah has twelve jars of water poured on and all around the alter of Yahweh, soaking it and filling the trench around it.

The author must have forgotten that this was the third year of a drought (1 Kgs 18:1). Yahweh had caused all rain and dew to cease, and all the wadis had long dried up (1 Kgs 17:1-7). Where exactly did Elijah get all this water from?
