And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of Jehovah standing between earth and heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. (ASV)


This appears to be a fantastic and greatly exaggerated claim. What would this have appeared like to the common man?


I'm not sure it's even worth commenting on this. There is no error in that verse at all. To answer the question posed in the pro section, I suppose it would have been shocking, hence the falling on their faces. --Austin
